What is the difference..

between a Walk, a Hike and Ridge-Walking anyways?

 

 

WALKS are generally the easier than hikes, covering less territory, lower elevation gains and shorter distances than Hikes.  Typical of the first couple of days while your limbering up and getting used to the higher elevations.

HIKES are generally 1/2 to Full day trips into more remote areas than walks.  Hikes are generally 4-12km long.  Usually we’ll stop for lunch at the highpoint.

Ridgewalks are moderate accents up above the tree-line aiming for  the alpine and long serpentine ridges  where you “have the world by the tail”.  Ridgewalks are longer and more demanding but venture into awe-inspiring mountain wilderness… magical places that can truly change your life.

 

None of our trips require technical climbing expertise or equipment.

We’ve been leading wilderness expeditions in the mountains of British Columbia, Alberta and the Yukon Territory since 1987.   Our small-group trips are “non-touristy” -We step off the well trodden tourist paths into new ground, away from the tour buses and snapshot shooting tourists that jam every roadside viewpoint.

Traveling  through the mountains at a relaxed, easy going pace, camping in the national parks campgrounds to reduce our impact and heading for a different region every day for a variety of experiences.   These are not pre-scripted tours; depending on things like the weather, opportunities for wildlife spotting, alpine flower blooms, group preference and seasonal variations contribute to make each trip truly unique.

We supply all the transportation, camping equipment, great meals, and of course.. Really great guides.  :)
